The Point! by Nilsson Sings Nilsson and Awesöme Orchestra
San Francisco, CA – Nilsson sings Nilsson and Awesöme Orchestra announce the live performance of The Point! Sunday, July 2, 2017, 7:00–10:00 p.m. at The Independent Music Hall. Kiefo Nilsson, Harry Nilsson’s son, sings lead vocals in a rendition of his father’s 1971 album The Point!, accompanied by members of Awesöme Orchestra, enriched with visual excerpts and from the animated movie The Point!, narrated by Bay Area humorist and writer, Mallory Ortberg, and joined by special guest, Diana Gameros.
Harry Nilsson’s album The Point! is a musical fable about Oblio, the sole round-headed person in a land where everything and everyone must have a (literal) point. It tells the story of his exclusion, exile and the lessons he learns along the way. The album was adapted into an animated movie by Fred Wolf and has remained a cult classic ever since. Come hear this epic fable with music and narration performed live in its entirety along with visual excerpts of the animation. Kiefo Nilsson sings lead vocals backed by a twelve-piece ensemble comprised of members of the Bay Area’s adventurous Awesöme Orchestra. Writer, Humorist and Bay Area native, Mallory Ortberg joins as the Narrator, and special guest Diana Gameros opens the show, covering more Nilsson classics. Nilsson sings Nilsson The Point! will be a unique, multimedia experience not to be missed!
