We're teaming up with The Exploratorium to bring you the spookiest Awesöme Orchestra session ever - Session 72: Halloween After Dark @ The Exploratorium on Thursday, October 31, from 6:30-9:30pm. Join us for a night of rockin' tunes (ahem... Night on Bald Mountain, The Nightmare Before Christmas Suite, and Ghostbusters!!), creepy mini-lectures from Nerd Nite SF, stories from the odd corners of history, science, art, & adventure with Odd Salon, or stroll around and check out the 650+ interactive exhibits with Exploratorium scientists for an utterly eerie evening. Costumes HIGHLY encouraged!

Session 72: Halloween After Dark @ The Exploratorium is now at capacity and is no longer accepting sign-ups.
We are, however, still looking for a few musicians for the following sections ONLY:
* Tuba
* Percussion
* Oboe
* Trumpet
* Harp
* Double Basses
If you play one of the above instruments, please email your section’s Ambassador if you’d like to join us for Session 72. Their information can be found here.

Due to permitting that is outside our control, this is an 18+ only session. Any musicians or patrons under 18 years of age will not be allowed to enter the venue.
The official after-session spooky social hang will be a few blocks away at The Old Ship Saloon (298 Pacific Ave. SF, CA 94111), so come grab a bite (kitchen's open until 1am!), celebrate Halloween, and mingle with other musicians.

All players MUST enter at the front of the museum and sign in at the staff and volunteer booth (NOT at the ticket counter) across from their Seismic Joint Cafe to receive their musician passes. Then walk back to Gallery 4 at the far end of the venue where we'll be playing. (ONLY musicians who sign up to play and are CONFIRMED by their section's Ambassadors by October 25 will be able to get in. You cannot just show up and play with us for Session 72. Sorry!)
COST: Free for musicians. Audience members will need to purchase After Dark tickets from The Exploratorium ($19.95)
TRANSPORTATION SUGGESTIONS: Easily accessible from the F muni line or BART (Embacadero stop is .75 miles away, 15-minute walk). 7:35-8:35pm - Danny Elfman: The Nightmare Before Christmas Suite (arr. Mark McKenzie) (~8')
instrumentation: 3 flutes (3rd doubles piccolo), 2 oboes (2nd doubles English horn), 3 clarinets (B-flat) (3rd doubles bass clarinet), 3 bassoons (3rd doubles contrabassoon), 1 alto saxophone, 1 tenor and baritone saxophone, 6 horns (F), 2 trumpets (B-flat), 2 tenor trombones, 2 bass trombones, 1 tuba, timpani, 5 percussion, 1 piano (doubling celesta), 1 harp, strings

Costumes HIGHLY encouraged! Please bring music stands and battery-powered stand lights. We'll provide chairs, sheet music, and free beer. All players will be granted free admission to the event.
We are expecting this event to fill up very quickly, so sign up early to secure a spot. The sign-up deadline for all sections is Tuesday, October 22 (unless we hit our 120 musician cap before then). Once that has passed, expect an email from your Awesöme Ambassadors with specific info and part assignments within a few days (check your spam filters if this is your first session). Email your ambassadors if you haven't heard back by Friday, October 25. (Please be patient—they have a lot of information to collect before emailing everyone.) Their information can be found here.
