Session 88: Earth Day

  • Chabot Space & Science Center 10000 Skyline Boulevard Oakland, CA, 94619 United States (map)

Session 88: Earth Day at the Planetarium!

Come join Awesome Orchestra in celebrating Earth Day on Saturday, April 22 from 4-6pm for our first time playing in the Planetarium at Chabot Space & Science Center! We'll be playing a set of pieces for chamber orchestra based on nature and astronomy! Beginning with the rarely performed "Anakin's Theme" from The Phantom Menace, followed by a mysterious and evocative new piece about our perspective of Earth from outside ourselves called Inner Eye by Australian composer Alicia Grant. We'll conclude our planetarium adventure with Stephen Schwartz's epic mini tone-poem "Meadowlark" featuring local opera singer Molly Mahoney. Come ready for another unique musical adventure with us!

We expect this session to fill up very quickly. Participating players will get in free, but Audience members will need to purchase tickets for this event via Chabot Space & Science. This event is all ages.

* Musician sign-ups are open until April 11 - if you are signing up after that (and there are still spots available), you will get your Ambassador section email on April 18*
